FSX Freeware

Postby SeanTK » Sat Dec 19, 2009 10:22 pm

Hopefully a simple question:

What is the most complex, freeware, FSX-native aircraft addon out there?
By complex I mean full systems simulations, plenty of intricate details, etc.

The FSX native freeware aircraft are not so numerous. Most of them have very pretty virtual cockpits, but the complexity of their systems are quite the same as the default aircrafts.

There are some exceptions though. The only one in my mind is the Mirage 2000-5 by Rollus. You WILL HAVE to read the manual to start this beast.

Thomas Ruth's Airbus 330-200, 330-300, 340-200, and 340-300. Paint file is high resolution detailed and others have supplied more repaints. VC has more controls than the default A321. Has lots of animated exits and nice lighting effects. I have found that anything Thomas Ruth releases is worth having.

Ivan's MiG-21 (http://simviation.com/simviation/?ID=64 ... &mark=5476), the VC is 100% click-able.

Thanks for the suggestions!

I have most of what is suggested, although I forgot about Ruth's Airbus series.

(Rollus' latest Mirage sure is nice isn't it!)
;)

it's only available from Rollus webspace:
http://rollus13.perso.neuf.fr/
However, this site is frequently out of order, because of the limited bandwith if I understood correctly. You'll have to be patient and test from time to time.
There might be ONE other website with that plane, authorized by Rollus himself, but I can't remember which one :/
Don't expect to find this plane anywhere else. SimOuthouse.com, Simviation.com, FlightSim.com, etc... are all out of the game ;)

I searched everywhere and than I read your last post. Yes, the site is down (it says "crash").

I don't get it... if you have a good site than you really don't need Simviation, Flightsim,...you want people at your site. I understand that. But if your site is bad or not working or whatever than I really don't understand why not put it on other sites.

Rollus didn't want his plane on any other mass-distribution website.
His website has unfortunately a monthly bandwith limit which is easilly reached. Increasing this limit cost many money.

Why doesn't he take donations on his website and pay for this bandwidth this way - if the product or service is good I often give donations? Or get a website without bandwidth limitations? There are a lot of them. Well, I'm just thinking loudly, it's his website and his work and he can do with it whatever he wants.

Honnestly guys, I have no idea.
He has made his choices concerning his baby. The distribution, the total prohibition of repaints, the "freewareness" (yes, I definitely think this product could have been payware), etc...
Rollus made this only for his own pleasure, and he doesn't really care about the rest. For me, the only things that matter are:
- he made his baby available to the community
- his baby rocks.
For the bandwith problem, I suppose you'll have to try again at the beginning of next month, the website should be ok for at least a day or two before crashing again ;)

Ok, new month. Now, there is no "Crash" message but just blank white page with "Untitled Page" in the title. I'm done with this one.
