ADDING THEN USING NEW SCENERY

I'm new to changing the basic FSX set up by adding stuff.
I'm having great trouble with adding a new area of scenery, even though I've read a lot here.
I have a large collection of bgl files covering my local area.
Where and how do I place these into FSX?
Then, how to I load them?
If you can help, please use 'dummy' terms - if you know what I mean!
