Real world weather?

Postby pilotrylan79 » Mon Jan 04, 2010 4:26 pm

Did Microsoft stop supporting the real world weather feature for fsx? Ever since the begining of the new year my real world weather has been downloading the same exact weather (completely inaccurate to what the weather actually is). For example, I live in the Denver area, and the last 4 days it has been clear skys, sunny and in the 30s/40s. Yet my real world weather download allways gets the same thing "24 degrees in light snow, 2 mile visibility and overcast skys". If Microsoft does still suport this feature then is there any way to fix this? Also, I have heard that there is more accurate mods you can use to download live weather. If so then what are they called and where can I download them? Thanks  :)

My FSX says wind 100@7kts, 1sm vis, 1,100'ceiling 42/42, Baro 29.81

Actual is wind 300@5kts, Severe Clear, 6/-5, 30.41.

That stinks!

One thing I have been able to ascertain over the last couple of months using FSX, that may or may not be related:

Metars report weather and clouds in feet above GROUND level.

i dont know if the following file will work in FSX or not. I DO KNOW that it does work in FS9 though, but anyone could try it out in fsx.

its called METARLIVE, which will give you the REAL WORLD ATIS info for any ICAO airport USA or over the pond.

just download it, put it in FSX/MODULES then hit ALT in your sim and look for METARLIVE on the top bar.  Enter your 4 letter ICAO and it will give you the METAR DATA for that airport (should be helpful if you are always flying Real World Weather and if FSX can semi-accurately depict what it SHOULD be).
