DX10 Preview

Postby gavinprice02 » Sun Dec 20, 2009 12:31 pm

hello all
I was having issues with the taxi ways flickering but found out the issue was down to having the dx10 preview box checked in fsx. However when I uncheck it my frame rates drop dramatically from like 30-40fps to 5-12fps.
Anyone know why?
thanks
My specs
I7920 4ghz
Asus P6T Deluxe V2
6gb Corsair DDR3 1600
BFG GTX285OCX

I think it's just down to your graphics card really, not too sure.
But, a fix for the flickering textures:

Yes, the taxiway flickering is a common bug of the DirectX10 preview option.
Everybody has this bug, it's very common, it's not something that depends on the hardware.
There's a fix that has been found recently however, but it requires a modification of each airport from a scenery creator.

When it comes to the difference in the performance, that's the main advantage of DX10 over DX9. DX10 is faster, it works in a different way than DX9 (well, excepted for people with incorrect drivers or hardware, of course). That's why you loose performance when you switch back to DX9 mode.
