Idiot Guides

Postby SqnLdr » Sat Dec 12, 2009 8:09 am

I've just downloaded all of Alf's UK Airfields in Zip Files.  Now I don't know how to add them to my FSX.   I thought it would be simple but I'm not as clever as I thought I was.   Are there any tutorials? :-/

Firstly you need to unzip the files (right click the zip then press Extract All. Most people won't use Window's built in unzipper though, a lot, like me, use 7-Zip which is free and quicker).

Then, open up the newly made unzipped version.

Look for a README, usually all addons come with them. If there is not a README, then there may be an installer to install it for you.

Lacking all of these, can you tell us what the files are? Chances are, there will be some instructions within the file telling you what to do.

I'll look at that addon myself now as it sounds interesting and I can provide help after I've seen it myself.

Edit: Yep, unzip the files and there is a readme. It is quite an easy install process, just copy and paste the right files.

Would you believe it?   No sooner than I'd posted this I found the easy to follow instructions in Alf's Read Me Files.
I did a test one Booker Airfield and it worked, so it looks like I'm going to be here all day uploading the rest of his UK Airfields.   I didn't know they had a couple of Super Hornets at Booker.   They must have come on the back of a lorry.  LOL   Love it.
