I turned DX10 on once.......then disabled the effin thing!

For me at least, it appeared it was a needless, and vast, consumer of 'resources' with no apparent benefit.

Well, I shouldn't say no benefit.  But for what it took to get it to run decently was not worth the resulting behavior(s).

FSX only has a "preview" mode of DX10 that is only available in Windows Vista or Windows 7 when you have a DX10 compatible videocard. The only real change is slightly better water and bloom, and internal cockpit shadows. However I believe it opens up performance and compatibility issues. If you have Vista or 7 then try it out, if not, then don't worry because for most people it's a waste of time.

Also adds a self shadowing cockpit.

It's a total waste.  ::)

I get slightly better frames.  :-?
BTW, slightly off topic, but what makes an aircraft DX10 compatible or not?

Thanks for the replies everyone!
If I somehow get 7, then I'll try it!
