Uires Folder

I'm replacing my splashscreen. I'm supposed to drop it in the Uires Folder. What and where is it?

There is a bmp image in the Uires folder named "dlgsplash." Rename it to something like "1dlgsplash." Drag the new splashscreen into the uires folder. Make sure it has the "dlgsplash" name.

Hope this helps,

OK, I'm seeing the new splashscreen in the Uires Folder and I renamed it "dlgsplash". Now when I start FSX it no longer shows any splashcreen but goes directly to the game. I removed the original splashcreen from the Uires Folder and saved it. What was I doing wrong?

The new file must be in .bmp format and named dlgsplash.bmp. If it's not a .bmp you must convert it.

If it's a .jpg file, you can open it with Windows Paint and 'Save As' a '24bit Bitmap'.

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.
