Excellent idea :)
I think you should clear the answers in the thread, lock it and make it sticky on the top of the section now.

This article from fsinsider.com also lists where other important FS-X related files (scnery.cfg, etc) are located for both XP and VIsta operating systems

But when you find 'show hidden files and foldders,' and activate 'Apply,' what then? How to find them? eg when I try to boot up FSX I get 'Living World settings in Lwcfg.xml are invalid. Please delete Lwcfg.xml from your hidden user profile directory.'  I click OK, FSX boots 100% and all appears Ok on the initial Free Flight page  except that there's no revolving plane in the box.  I click OK, and get blank page followed by error report.  I've been to System Properties/User Profiles, but no Lcw.cfg there. I've been to Microsoft ESP/configuring surface vehicle traffic: 'the Lwcfg.xml file,' but can find no way to delete it. I'm only computer semi-literate, so I'd really appreciate a non-technical sort of reply. [If deleting and reinstalling FSX would help, what's the best way to delete - Add/Remove, or FSX CD?]

Really? I've done that, searched google, been through Microsoft SDK article on the file [www.msdn.microsoft.com]  Nowhere can I discover where it is in my computer or how to delete it. Presumably you know. Would you be kind enough to share? [Incidentally, I didn't say I was looking for the fsx cfg, but Lwcfg.xml...]

start > control panel > folder options (or something like that, I'm not at home) > view tab > enable hidden files and folders

start > c: drive > users > your profile name > appdata > roaming > microsoft > fsx > fsx.cfg

I'm not at home, but it's something like that.

You can also just open up "my computer", select the OS drive on the left menu, and on the top right of the screen do a search for fsx
