FPS Limiter not limiting

Postby SubZer0 » Fri Oct 23, 2009 6:58 pm

Hello everyone,

I've been using the FPS Limiter tool with FSX ever since it was announced and it was always worked well with my system. However, now that I'm on W7 it won't work. I can create the batch file just fine, it'll open up FSX just fine and dislpay the green letters and everything. However, when I go in-game, the FPS jump way above where it's locked, no matter what number I choose to limit it to.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Andy

Andy, how does it run without the limiter? I dont use it anymore as it made things jerky at times. Also when running the limiter I would get Autogen graphic spikes. For a long time I was on the fence about using it but after alot of tests using it and not using it I found that it really didnt help. Cant help on the W7 os as I am on XP.

Good luck friend! :)

You dont need that tool with i7. I have never seen a correctly set up i7 system make use that tool

I even removed it from the FSX tuning thread because quite frankly the tool even on a correctly set up Intel Q system is not doing much

What it allows is a user to overdrive the autogen/scenery system when instead they should trim back settings or find the affinity mask setting that works. Its a shortcut to tuning and after working with it for some time, just like the "bloom" hack that actually causes problems, I removed the references to those items.

And as I said, with i7 I never, ever saw any need to use the limiter at all

Try this out and see if it helps with the random stutters.

[JOBSCHEDULER]
AffinityMask=14

This will keep FSX on the last 3 cores.

I have found it to work well. The tree thing hits me as well at very dense autogen in certain spots. I have mine at dense which works in ALL the tree problem spots. Nothing will ruin a landing more than a tree stutter party. I ecperienced this the other day landing at Juneau Bay Alaska while on the last part of the approach just before touch down the trees started acting up. If I fly at dense I NEVER see it happen. :)

I just put in that tweak and it works great along with a BP of 100mb.

About the AG slider... I like to have it at Very Dense because of the visuals. Dense doesn't look good to me... But what can we do, right?

Very excited about GEX Europe for that reason ;)
