Strange aircraft texture issue - please help

Postby Flying Penguin » Mon Oct 05, 2009 8:26 am

Hello...

I have installed a ton of repaints for default planes, primarily from Simviation, with no issues whatsoever.  However, after a recent download of a couple of new ones, I have encountered an issue for which I have no explanation.

When selecting a plane and looking at the "Details" screen (where the example rotates around and around), some (not all) of the planes - including the original FSX models (not repaints) - appear messed up.  They are transparent, have random blocks protruding from the top, and have sideways wheels on the bottom.  The wheels are perpendicular to how they should be, and they shouldn't be on there to begin with.  I selected one to see how it would appear on the runway, and it appears the same way (messed up).  If I pick one that DOESN'T look that way from the aircraft screen, it's fine.  However, I have also noticed that some of the AI traffic now looks that way as well.

This only happens with the B737 models.  The others are fine.  It has occurred with about half of the planes. It's happened to some of the original FSX planes, and also some repaints I had before which were fine.

Has anyone else ever encountered this? I'd rather not reinstall FSX, but I guess I will if I need to.

Thanks!

Had the same problem showing up on the Default Cessna with jumbled parts. Rudder and elevators sticking out of plane,no prop etc. Problem appeared when I applied [Buffer Pool] settings to match my GTX285 1GB card as NickN suggested in his FSX tuneup. Lowering the value down from 490M to 200M fixed the display problem and also improved my FPS. Maybe it was just my setup.

Had that problem on 2 computers, tried everything, even posted it here. No one responded, so I figured it must be just me. Then I had a brainwave and re-installed SP3 for FSX and BINGO. everything is fine again.
