fsx.cfg missing

fsx.cfg missing

Postby Bubblehead » Thu Oct 08, 2009 10:42 am

I installed FSX DeLuxe Edition including SP1 in my other PC and it's working fine. However, I need to make changes in the fsx.cfg file and the path to it (Doc & Setting/My name/Application Data, Microsoft/FSX) which I normally use with my other PC, I am unable to find the Application Data. I did a search and it did not come out. Is there any other way to get to the fsx.cfg file besides the one I described?

That's the location for Win XP. If you have Vista on your new machine it should be here.

Also in Vista make sure under control panel - folder options - views you have selected show hidden folders.  In Vista application data is a hidden folder.

I don't have Vista. I have the WinXP Home Edition SP3. Any other suggestions?

Open any file.... look for TOOLS > FOLDER OPTIONS > Views tab.... look for SHOW HIDDEN FILES AND FOLDERS.

Make sure that it has the bullet next to it.   then go look in
C:Doc & Setting/My name/Application Data/Microsoft/FSX again to see if the APPLICATION DATA file shows up.

if you have already done this, and the file in question is NOT there.... FSX.cfg ... run FSX for 5 min FLYING in the sim.  Shut it down and then do everything above again.  It will rebuild the .cfg by itself.

if you have problems with the sim, you can delete the .cfg, start the sim and let it rebuild back to default settings, then go tweak everything again whenever you feel like.

You have the correct location of the file. Make sure to click
All Files under Files of type. ;)
