Can't relocate the carrier

Postby Skittles » Fri Aug 21, 2009 4:21 pm

I've been flying around the San Diego, CA Area. I've been using AICarrier and I'd set up a group at point CAPUS and have it head south to point SKATE.

Id fly from NAS North Island in a CH-46, land on the carrier then switch to a jet and take off, pretending to be on a training mission. I'd just fly around for an hour or so. By the time I get back, the carrier is no where to be found.

Do the carriers have any NAV freqs to tune up?

They both will work perfectly, until you open windows.

no, hoepfully one day someone will figure out how to add a moving transponder to a carrier so we can track it, but fsx requires static ones.

Hm, makes me wonder... if we can use the TCAS to avoid aircraft... why not use something like it to find ships?

If you have the SDK installed, you can use the
Traffic Explorer ( available in the dropdown menu )
to locate the moving CV's.

When you open the Explorer, 'un-check' the
"Aircraft Only" box at the top of the display.

Then find the carrier entry in the list. Right Click
on the entry and select "Set Position"...the current
Lat/Lon and heading of the CV will be displayed.

You can copy & paste those values into a temporary
notepad file, then find your aircraft entry in
the explorer list.
Right Click, select "Set Position" and paste the
Lat/Lon/Hdg values into that form.

Your aircraft will be teleported to the area
of the CV.

EDIT: I seem to recall that the aicarriers dropdown menu
also had an entry for locating the carrier.

Note: WHY is the freaking message entry box so freaking SMALL?
It's a PITA to try to create a decent looking reply
when all you have are 40 columns!!!

You can resize the message box by dragging the borders out.... ;)

Ah-ha!  Thanks for that. I just never tried that since I didn't see any border
markings :)

The box is no smaller now than it ever was. There's no need to press the Return key while typing messages unless you wish to start a new line or paragraph.

Well I, for one, do not like lines of text that stretch to infinity nor those that are
only 40 characters wide. I like a nice, blocked look about 60 characters wide.

Now that I know the input box can be stretched I don't have a beef with it :)

I've always hated the small input box. I just chose to voice that again in my
reply yesterday :)

I have to admit that I didn't know that either.
