Jets won't work, props are fine.

Jets won't work, props are fine.

I know what you're thinking, how is that a problem. ;)

My jets upon loading, sit and appear to be stuck in a loop, on engine start. I hear the constant clicking, and sometimes the spool up, but it never fires up.

This happens with all jets.

Try increasing the fuel-air mixture before hitting the starter by assigning a joystick or keyboard button to the "enrich mixture" function in the control settings. On that same token, make sure that any fuel cutoff levers in the aircraft are not....cutoff.

That's probably it.. Default jets don't have the same cut-off function as some add-ons..  try the default key-stroke.

ctrl+E doesn't work.

I also tried turning on auto mix, and all realism settings to easy.

I don't fly many jets in FSX, I use it mainly for low & slow, I just saw the screenies of that Mig & a new Mirage, and wanted to try them.

Thanks for the replies, I knew my FSX was running too good to be true.  :D ;)

It happened to me when my mixture was cut off in my saved standard flight. Sometimes it didn't work to "increase the mixture" to get the jet started. I had to create a new standard flight with the mixture set to max.

Shane, switch to one of the default FSX jets.
Try to start them with CTRL+E.
If it doesn't work, force the fuel-related stuff to open, press CRTL+F4 and SHIFT+CRTL+F4, then try CTRL+E again, it should work. Then save as defalut flight.

Thanks to you both for the tips, the default jet liners fly now,  but no go on the FSX F-18, the Mig-21, the F-14D, or the new Mirage.  :-?

If I constantly hold down on shift+Ctrl+F4, the engine will produce thrust and move forward, but the moment I let go, the engine dies.

Shift+F4 doesn't appear to do anything, but maybe I'm just not seeing the switch or gauge that informs me what it does.

where did you find your Gmax Mig21? I have FSX Deluxe that i rarely use, if i even use it that much.   so if it gets messed up... oh well. I still have my Tried and True, trusty FS9.  Maybe I could try it out as well as we can put our heads together on the matter.

Bottom of page: http://www.simviation.com/simviation/in ... 64&page=24

The description says it works in FS9, but I haven't tried it yet.

I can get the F-18, F-14, & Mirage to fly, but if I load the Mig-21, the problem comes back and affects ALL jet planes until I restart FSX.

I'm testing the Mig in FS9  now to see if  the same problem arises.

>:( >:( Now FS9 is doing it!

This Mig looks great, but it is apparently causing the problem for me. :-[

Anyone else willing to try it?

I'm downloading it now and will give it a try in FSX.

For me the Mig started up fine using a standard flight with the following settings:

Standard C 172
mags: off
alt: off
bat: off
avionics: off
mixture: rich
fuel shutoff in (fuel flow on)
fuel selector both

Realism settings:
all high
automixture off

Hope that helps.
