I saw a post a while back that had a problem with FSX crashing after a long flight--4hrs I think.
I watched the board but the poster didn't seem to get a reply or an answer to his problem.
I have been getting glitches in my system that seem to be resolved by making an adjustment in display settings but invariably returned. I wasn't fussed when it happened inflight but I was annoyed when it happened on approach at 50' from TD.
I thought there may be a power supply problem, just hovering on the brink so to speak,so I disconnected my slave HDD and tried again.
Fixed!! Or so I thought.
The niggles crept back in and definitely got worse when I installed a payware scenery pack.
I tried everything---sliders here,sliders there,default and everything in between 0 and max.
I checked the GPU temp and used the tuner on that--nothing.
Then the penny dropped---CPU TEMP.
I ran a diagnostic on the CPU as I ran FSX and man did that temp. start an uphill run straight off!!
Anyway, the result is I am running an overkill CPU cooler that gives me 15C under idle temp. and FSX doesn't even touch it!!
I have cranked everything but still have more playing to do depending on the scenery I am flying in to(city/country)but it is performing well so far.
Life is sweet.
If you haven't thought of CPU temp. maybe you should. It could be that ultra gamers aren't the only ones that can benefit by a cooler upgrade.
