Rudder and brake problem, brakes activate when usi

Postby motoadve » Sun Jul 05, 2009 10:54 am

I have CH Pro Pedals
When on the runway for taking off,or landing when I applied rudder to correct sometimes the brake activates too.
I have programed in different axes but keeps doing it.
I have a big Null Zone for brakes and makes no difference.
Im making sure Im not pressing down the pedals , just forward.

Any ideas how to fix this?

Does everything work properly in the Windows controller calibration applet? (Start\Settings\Control Panel\Game Controllers)
Are you using CH Control Manager? If so, is everything correct in your FSX profile?
Do the toe brakes work properly with no rudder input?

Just trying to figure out if it is a software or hardware problem.

When installing my Steering Wheel and Pedals for my driving games.

In the "Set-Up" program for the Controller Hardware, the program asks me if the "Pedals" are "Separate", or "Combined"....

...for example;

Are both the Wheel and Pedals connected to the same Socket via a single cable, or is the Wheel connected to one socket, and the Pedals connected to a separate socket on the Computer?

In my case, the Wheel and Pedals connect to a single USB Socket, so they are "Combined"..

If the wrong "Separate/Combined" option is selected the arrangement will not work correctly!

If you are using a separate Joystick/Yoke and CH Pedals plugged into different Sockets, make sure they are selected as "Separate"....and not "Combined"!

Give that a try...;)...!

They are separated in in different sockets

In The Sim.... ALT > Menu > Options > Controls > Calibrate, etc....

....do you have the choice of selecting each "separate" Stick and Pedals, for calibration?

Or the same thing in the Windows Joystick, etc Calibration Screen?

This is almost certainly because the rudder is not assigned properly. I had this. Go back to the controls set up and delete any rudder/ brake assignments for the pedals already. Then re-do the assignment again, make sure the brakes are not an on -off switch set up(so releasing the toes releases the brakes again). Voila -

Oh, I forgot to add - that I didn't install the CH programs for the rudders - only the drivers. I see no-point or need to have the yoke or rudder proggy.
Good luck

I really might be wrong, but could it be that it is automatically applying differential braking to assist with steering the conventional geared (tail dragger) aircrafts?

I have just checked my settings. Its easy = please check the REVERSE buttons on the toe brakes. Then all will be well. Go into controls select CH rudder axis
check the reverse button on the toe brakes - and thats it!!
See - I have written it twice! Also, make sure all sensitivities are set to high with no dwell.
