FSX Sound

Postby CelMcN » Fri Jun 26, 2009 6:56 am

Help!!!! All of a sudden, my FSX sound has gone quiet!!! Even with the sliders on maximum, I can barely hear any sound. I have checked over my PC and all the sound devices are working OK and have the latest drivers installed. I've even un-installed FSX then re-installed it with no change in the situation. I would be very grateful if anyone could propose a solution. Thanks.

I think you need to press 'Q' or CTRL+'Q' or so.
Just press ALT and a menu will show on the top of the screen. Search for the "Sound" feature there.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried using the 'Q' key several times (mute on/mute off) but it made no difference. You can hear the sound but only quietly.

Check to make sure all the sounds in the windows settings are at appropriate levels and are un-muted.

If that's all correct perhaps something physically broke on the sound hardware and may need repair.

Thanks. I have checked sound is un-muted and the sliders are on max. Despite the Device Manager saying everything working OK, maybe I need to get the sound-card checked out.

Problem solved! Apologies for wasting everybody's time. I use Vista. Somehow, in the Realtek HD Audio Manager panel, I had inadvertantly de-activated the headphones. I had unchecked the box (Device Advanced Settings) for 'make front and rear etc'.
