Hello, welcome to Simviation. Full of great people who are always willing to help, you can find a number of tips and tweaks for FSX as well as great downloads to further enhance your flight simulator experience. Also check out the screenshot forums and post a few yourself. Enjoy your stay. 8-) :)

Thanks Mitch, getting to grips with it all at the moment...running through the tutorials etc, I used to have FS2004 but never really used it much. Upgraded my PC recently and thought I'd give FSX a go, added the Saitek X52 at the weekend which vastly improved the experience!  :)

Welcome to the FSX world.
Good thing is that you come very late, so most of the well-know problems have been discussed/solved/limited/etc...
Don't hesitate to ask if you don't find the info about a particular problem :)

Thanks Daube  :)

I'm just looking at ways to improve my system performance, I've got a good spec as I upgraded about three months ago, I'm using Windows XP SP3 with 4GB memory and a 512mb ATI Radeon graphics card. Turned up the graphics settings on FSX last night and everything seemed fine but the motherboard software did kick off slightly about temperature at one point so I think I might need to do some optimising.

Read the topic about the SP2/Acceleration installation on top of the forum. It contains usefull instructions on how to modify or add some parameters (tweaks) in the fsx.cfg file, in order to customize and optimise your display settings depending on your hardware.

Welcome to SimV, David! No worries... As long as you set up your OS and FSX right, you won't have any problems with the sim. Look at the two stickies at the top of the FSX forums here, and read them carefully. That's how your system/FSX will be set up. Good luck and have fun!
