Rudder Issues

Postby EJW » Sun Jun 28, 2009 12:57 pm

This applies to all of my aircraft.

Is there any way I can make the rudder of my aircraft move more smoothly? Every time I move the rudder it only moves 5 degrees so in order to move the rudder 20 degrees to the left I'd have to press a key 4 times.
Is there any way I can make this smoother, am I using the right keys?

..a Joystick with a "Twist" function to operate the Rudder?

You need a "Twist" Joystick for Flight Simulation...;)...!

Isn't there a possibility to change the rudder deflection in the cfg? I can't look at mine (wrong PC) butt I'll check asap - or maybe someone who knows directly can jump in here...!

There is, though I'm not on my own computer and can't give specifics at the moment. In the Aircraft.cfg (sometimes called 'Sim.cfg', apparently) there is a heading called [Keyboard Response] or some such. Adjust the rudder (or Z) axis - the higher the number, the more response from the keytaps.

The point is moot however. EJW, if you want to fly well in FS, you need some way of establishing rudder deflection. You need a twist grip or pedals to maximize your game play. Keystrokes are all well and good for general aircraft systems, but for primary controls, you need to be able to assign an axis, IMO.
