No Cockpit Sounds

Postby G1000Pilot » Wed Jun 10, 2009 10:54 pm

A lot of my cockpit sounds have not been working.

First off, when looking straight out the cockpit I can barely hear anything; however, when I turn to the side it gets loud all of the sudden. When I go back to the forward view it gets quiet again

The Autopilot disconnect sound is not working in ANY airplane.

the IFR "markers" Inner/Middle/Outer are not making noise (even when I activate the sound on the COMM panel) in ANY plane.

In a  payware plane the seatbelt signs are not working, the flight attendant calls are not working, and the GPWS/TCAS noises are not working.

What can this be since it seems to be a constant theme inside the cockpit.

Thanks Guys! This is driving me crazy!

Have you tried adjusting the sound settings---as in,start FSX,select 'Settings'on the left hand side of screen then 'Sound' in 'Other settings' on the right.

White on White fly all night.

Red on White you're alright.

Red on Red you'll soon be dead.

Yea I did try this with no success. I have heard it could be caused by some .dll file or something along those lines.

Anybody else experience this? I would hate to have to re-install  :'(

Here is another example of this. Let me know if anybody knows a work around! I think this happened after installing Captain Sim 757.... but who knows!

http://forums.flightsim.com/vbfs/showth ... ?p=1244969

"I had something similar happen, where when panning rearward, the cockpit sounds became normal volume and diminished to near nothing as the panning was directed forward again. I don't know what caused it but did a reinstall of FSX for unrelated reasons, and the sound problem went away. Could also try deleting the fsx.cfg file (of course make a backup first), although this would set the sim back to default settings. If this doesn't work and a reinstall isn't in order then you might want to try altering the cockpit sounds with Audacity sound editor, making them louder so they appear somewhat normal when in the cockpit (again, backing up the original files just in case). That looked familiar...lol (guess i have two accounts here)

Just to add something, I tried the "FSX repair" using the install discs before uninstalling and that didn't fix the problem. Only a complete wipe & reinstall did it. Never found out what caused it, but after replacing all addons one at a time, the problem didn't recur.

Verify the sound properties.. fire up the sound EQ and enter the properties for it.. make sure you do not hace your center and sub speakers switched backwards.. run the tests the sound device provides and verify each speaker being displayed is playing

Make sure you have the sound system set up correctly.. if you do not have 5.1/8.1, etc surround speakers
