Fire and Crashes...BIG

Are there any add-ons/programs that make my crashes and fires bigger and more detailed than just dust and a few sparks?

There are for FS9, but not for FSX.

I don't understand why FSX claims to be so real yet lacks any realistic visual damage.

Sadly, there are none for FSX. It's a real 'downer' of FSX. I would really like to see more visual damage on aircraft in the next microsoft sim.

Hate to break it to you guys but the point of this sim is to NOT crash  ;)

So, fire and damage of such that you are asking for is not a feature I feel is missing.  However, what would be nice is for some minor visual damage such as broken gear, flat tires, prop bent, etc.. Not destruction and mayhem, but rather some failures so that we could see where we went wrong, or make the flights more interesting if we chose to enable failures.

This is not some action game, explosions are not something that would benefit the game in any way. Though, the oil rig rescue mission was pretty intense.

Well, for screenshot and video artists (like myself), damage, destruction, and mayhem could be useful at original work sometimes.

You could always edit exposions into your work if that's what you want.

Explosions? What about missing a wing, engine, scattered remains of plane on the ground...

If you're good enough at editing.

I'd like some visual damage modeling. But of course the first concern is dedicating resources, when there are other things that need improving first.

Assuming we're at a point where we could turn our attention toward damage modeling.. if your claim is for realism.. it would be limited to what you can see from the cockpit.. OR.. obvious things that you could get ground/tower reports on; like, "Is my gear down ?"

Smoke and flames from abused or failing engines would be nice..

Parts that actually become detached would be interesting.. but that starts getting outside of the MSFS mission.

Fireballs on impact and scattered debris ?
