Sabre problem

Postby ETaylor » Wed May 20, 2009 9:38 pm

Hello,
I just downloaded the AMAZING Sabre here- http://www.simviation.com/simviation/index.php?type=item&ID=64&page=20
First let me say that the detail is brilliant. But, I have a critical problem. I can't see out the windscreen because it is completely opaque! It's a sort of gray colour with reflections of the cockpit on it. I'm running FSX with the Acceleration. If you need my PC specs to help with this problem, I'll provide them.
Any help would be appreciated, as I REALLY want to enjoy this aeroplane!
Thanks.

This might be a texture problem. Maybe this airplane is not built to be run in FSX Acceleration, and the textures aren't compatible. This is just a guess. I can't say for sure, because I don't have Acceleration.

That is a nice model, but to tell you the truth... there is an even better one available to all.

Get the Sabre made by SectionF8 here at simv;

I would say go here and get the update for FSX, but the link is for Avsim, which is currently down. But here is the link anyways. This is to cure that same opaque look of the canopy.

My specs... A hard drive, motherboard, graphics card, some memory, a keyboard, mouse, and monitor - in other words, nothing special.

The VC canopy is not clear because the model was built for FS9, and is an incompatibility issue with FSX/SP2. The only work around for this issue is to open up the offending texture files, and invert the alpha channel

Avsim isn't just 'down', Avsim doesn't even really exist anymore....

Do they not have their packages uploaded anywhere else?

Esselbach- I'm relatively new to flight simulator and I'm not sure what you mean by invert alpha channel. could you please explain?
also- gtirob- the link you posted is also for a FS9 Sabre, and Esselbach said that the problem with mine is that it was for FS9 so I am a bit confused.
thank you for the replies though!

It is for FS9, but other than the vc glass it works excellent. And the link I posted is to make the vc glass clear. The files are already fixed so all you have to do is replace the old texture file, with the updated one.

I remember getting the updated textures somewhere else, but Id have to search for them as I dont remember where I found them.

EDIT
give this a try for the sf8 sabre
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=04IN4ENU
link came from sf8's own forums, so it should be good. and i believe this is where i got mine from (before it was available at avsim).

I found their Sabre FSX update on my computer, and it is only about 1.5 mb, so if you need it, PM me your e-mail address and I can send it to you... :)
