Road Traffic Speed

Postby Plugpennyshadow » Tue May 05, 2009 10:38 am

I run with about thirty percent road traffic.  Its works well for my system.

The thing is that the ground traffic is outrunning me when Im flying  along at, say, 90 knots.  How fast is the traffic set to run and can this be changed?  To, say, 65mph or so.

Thankie.

Well,  you could set up a measured distance, and fly over with a stopwatch in your hand and time them then do the math.

Rate = Distance/Time

Thats how the troopers do it.

I would be very interested if it works in your experiment.

You can use the fix through the link above or you can pick and choose which the speed of each vehicle yourself.
Just go to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\GroundVehicles\

In each vehicle folder you will find a file called sim.cfg. Look for this line:

[DesignSpecs]
max_speed_mph = 115

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but nether of the above options will change road traffic. They will slow airport vehicles but not highway and city

In order to correctly reset the speed of traffic in FSX one must convert LWcfg file to XML

http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?s=88 ... t&p=481863

http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/showthread.php?p=85400

you must edit the file so the regional speed is 60  and place it in FSX

after that freeway and car traffic will slow

if you think things are slow after doing the 2 suggestions in this thread.. you are seeing things.. those only slow airport traffic, nothing else

Thanks Nick, seen the improvment in the ground vehicles with The
SLOWER_VEHICLES_TWEAK, but took it for granted that it included freeway traffic also. Didn't mean to steer anyone the wrong way, so Thanks again Nick for coming to the rescue
