Can I Install new aircraft into FSX?

Postby Alex-C » Sat May 02, 2009 1:22 pm

Pardon what may be dumb newbie questions that I could answer myself if I dug deeper into the FSX interface:

1) Is it possible to import aircraft that are not in FSX into it?
1b) If so, approximately, or exactly, how?

2) If so, is there any chance that someone has created the Challenger (it's in the Light Sport Plane category), technically a Challenger-II, for such importing? And if so where could I beg, or buy it?

Right now the closest thing I can find in FSX to Challenger performance and handling and instrument panel is the Piper Cub.

I'd love to get something closer to what I'm actually going to be flying.

Any ideas?

the only problem that might be faced by putting NON-FSX planes into FSX is their gauges might not work properly.   For this, you will need a new FSX panel for your FS9 plane.

all new planes go to ?? / FSX / SIMOBJECTS / AIRCRAFT

gauges to gauges

effects to effects

Alex,

You can find Bill Lyons FS 2004 Quad City Challenger II package here: http://www.simviation.com/fsgliders_12.htm

I have it installed in FSX sp2 and it's great fun to fly.

Note: Do not point the auto-installer to your FSX folder as the FSX folder tree is different than FS2004. Point it to a temporary folder. Also, Bill stored common aircraft textures different than normal. When you're ready to install, send me an e-mail and I can send instructions and a small file or 2 to complete the install.

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

Problem is the Challenger II you pointed me to turns out to be a vintage biplane, totally different from the Challenger II Light Sport Aircraft made by www.quadcitychallenger.com

Well I tried!  ;)
