External views go black?

Postby Wing Nut » Wed Apr 29, 2009 4:25 pm

Well here's a new one on me.  On SOME not all of my planes, when I go to the outside view, the screen blacks out.  Some of the planes are default, some are 3rd party.  On some I can still see the lights, on some I can't.  When I go to tower view and zoom in, the planes are white shadows.  In the cockpit view, and VC, everything is normal.  Weird stuff...

Some might be FS9, but I believe these were working before my HD crashed and I had to re-install FSX...

For the record:

2.0Ghz AMD Dual Core
4.0Gb Ram
512Mb Radeon X1600

running

FSX/Accel/SP2 with Real Environment Xtreme
DX10
Win XP Home SP2

I have updated my video card drivers.

and my computer chair has red cloth on the seat... :D

Well MOST 3rd party software are NOT compatible with DX10.

Having texture woes is 100% guaranteed if you load up a flight with an aircraft that is not DX10 compatible.

This is not limited to 3rd party aircraft but also the case with scenery/texture add-ons.

If they are not DX10 compatible then this will happen.

Have you tried this in DX9 mode and see if the problem persists?

Also check your sliders, reduce graphic options, FSX is CPU mad and might battle to display textures if settings are too high.

Goodluck  :)

PS: If non-of-the-above works I suggest you phone Ghost Busters as you might have a poltergeist in your rig  ;D ;D
