Combining CFS and FS would also be a great idea... if done correctly... it would be far too easy to lose focus of one aspect to get into another... like leaving out a more realistic ATC "module" ;)

[quote]IDK, for me at least, I'd be willing to give up on backward compatibility to have a completely reworked FS...

But I think this might be a touchy subject, so I won't push

Just thought of something... about the damage modeling:

MS has to acquire licenses from real world aircraft manufacturers to create depictions of them in the sim... this, however, often come at the price of not being permitted to show the aircraft crashing or damaged... (that's why games like Need for Speed, that features real world cars, don't have car damage, and games as GTA IV, with their fictional cars, can crush them into unrecognition) It would look bad for real world manufacturers to see their products being destroyed... even virtually...

HOWEVER... I see a way around it

...

Nearly everything mentioned would have come to pass if MS hadn't decided to have a abortion...  :'(

One of the oldest marketing techniques in the book is convincing people that they will not be able to get an old favorite product.  Get folks salivating over how much they will miss it .... and generating tons of "word of mouth" mentions about the product, .......... and telling other people what a shame it is that the thing won't be available anymore......... and then suddenly discover that maybe they WILL "unexpectedly  ::)" just be able to have another one available soon.  Sales will skyrocket.

Microsoft is not stupid.

If you think there will not be a FS-Next out of Microsoft, I have a nice used car in mint condition I'll sell you.  ;)

best,

John, I know that there will something "flight" related coming from Microsoft some day...

...I am howevr, not so sanguine about what form that "flight" related something will be...

To date there are only two public facts:

1. it will be for the PC
2. if will be distrubuted/controlled by PC LIVE

I think they should have a Career Mode, that always makes things fun. :)
