Weird Problem: ASI goes to zero using Active Sky X

Postby Traffic Pilot » Tue Mar 10, 2009 9:38 am

I've got a very irritating problem which I get whilst running FSX and Active Sky X .

Every so often while I'm flying the ASI will drop to zero and the wind will change to (for example) 240/0 kts - ie no windspeed. This only ever happens when airborne and could possibly coincide (?) with the weather update in ASX.

Has anyone else had this problem? It happens on any aircraft I use. They are still flyable but without a working ASI it's rather pointless :'(

Thoughts anyone?

Thanks

Adam

PS: I haven't noticed it happening using the built-in FSX live weather.

Shifting winds are normal.. they'll bounce you around  and cause ASI fluctuations..

HOWEVER.. your ASI dropping to zero means one thing in MSFS

Hi Brett

Thanks for the tip will double check I have pitot heat on.

The pitot heat being on/off wouldn't effect the wind speed dropping to zero though surely?

It also happens on the Captain Sim 757 and other jets - not just GA aircraft.

You wouldn't think so... but it wouldn't surprise me if there were a glitch along those lines..  frozen pitot tube = no wind  :D

I've seen weirder bugs in FSX  :-X

Yes that's a definite possibility ;)

I'll try it with the default 172 tonight. Off to fly a real 172 now - avec pitot heat ON-it's chilly here near Oxford!

Simviation - a great site and forum. Def my favourite place for flight sim now
