Ok, I will try it once I get home and see if it will work. The proxys here at the office block somethings so I cant see them.

With a lil luck, SP2 wont be hard to install.  ;)

What are your specs? It wouldn't be a good idea to get a video card and have everything else in the computer be very old. It would 'bottleneck' the video card and would not let it use all its power

Do you know the computer model? We can look it up online and find out the specs that way.

I will get the specs tonight. The pc was given to me by a neighbor who is an I.T. person.

I use to play CFS2 from time to time and imprted numerous aircraft for it. I tried a different aircraft last night.  FSX/FS2004 Civilian P51D Package. From page 3 on the Vintage List for FSX. It to has an auto installer. I noticed the files were listed after the installation but the aircraft wouldnt show up. I guess it just want meant for me to download airfract in FSX!  ;D

Thanks Andy!

I find this rather odd. I have a very low-end system which I know will not run FSX any sense. As an experiment I tried the B-25 in the FSX Demo. According to the instructions the B-25 shouldn't display properly without FSX SP2.
IMPORTANT WARNINGS and NOTES ON INSTALLING THE AIRCRAFT

This package is for FSX only.
Installing it into the incorrect version will cause the package to malfunction.

This package is optimised for use with FSX Service Pack 2. Other versions might present texture issues.

I expected all sorts of problems but it actually works very well.

:o I don't know much about hardware but the manufacturer claims that video card is the "most powerful professional graphics card in graphics history". http://www.obsessable.com/news/2008/11/10/nvidia-quadro-fx-5800-packs-240-graphics-cores-into-3500-4gb-card/

Perhaps it's a tad too powerful for your system or it needs setting up properly.

I'll leave the hardware for the gurus.

Not wishing to confuse the issue, I checked out that P-51D. As I suspected it's an FS9 model & the auto-installer is configured for FS9. If you used it by changing the install path to FSX, look for a folder named Aircraft in the FSX root directory. Inside this folder will be another folder named P5-1D_Mustang. Paste the P5-1D_Mustang folder into the FSX\SimObjects\airplanes folder. It should now be listed on the FSX Select Aircraft menu but won't have thumbnail images.

(Unlike previous versions of CFS/FS, FSX has no default Aircraft directory.)

If Hagar and I are thinking about the same video card, then you apparently have the most powerful video card ever manufactured. However, you have a very weak processor which is bottlenecking the video card (you are getting almost no use out of it) and, although it's 2GB of memory (RAM), it is probably very, very slow RAM. The hard drive is only 40GB and is probably a slower model because newer ones come in at least 160GB I believe. If you have that video card, you should really consider upgrading to a newer system, i.e. i7, to make good use of that video card.

You still haven't installed SP2 though, so I'm still hopeful that that will fix the texture issue.
