That computer just wont run FSX.

You really need a dual core processor minimum, and no less then a Gigabyte of RAM, 2GB is preferable.

As far as the aircraft, they only come with a VC cockpit. There are no 2D installed be default.

I have a Pentium 4 with hyper threading 4 gig ram and three hard drives a 60 gig a 80 gig and a 320 gig SATA I run fsx at a reasonable rate but I turned down the auto gen trees significantly and added a few other tweaks as well. But it is flyable. But if you expect to really run it close to full hilt you will needs to update your system.
Asa for your graphics card look in your FSX config file for this line

[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS.0]
this is not far from the top 8-)

;D

Like the way you said it  ;D

BUT

FSX will run crap on a crap setup. I am not trying to be mean but fact is fact.

It takes some serious horsepower and plenty special tweaking of the FSX.cfg before it becomes reasonably flyable.

But look at the positive, you have just stumble across the best flightsim site you can ever image.

We have a special hardware forum, with some special help and serious specialists.

We have some screen shot sections where you can see FSX in action, I promise you, some shots in there will change your mind regarding FSX running crappy.

All the people in there will gladly assist you in making nice shots too if you like.

My FSX also started of crap. Well since I came here I run it like a charm. All thanx to SimV.

Goodluck and welcome  :D

I have to agree with the above answers from the other members: this computer is too old for FSX, you will never be able to play this game because your computer is not powerfull enough.

You might have a much more enjoyable flying experience with FS9, but even this one won't run on maximum settings.

If I jst turn the graphics to the "horrid" option, will it work faster?

Microsoft expects you to spend 3000 bucks on their products so a $80 game can work. thats why im getting a mac :O

i no fsx doesn't work on macs so dont start

and where is the config file?

No it won't. Your computer is outdated. And even if it becomes barely playable, the visual quality will be so low that you won't be able to enjoy it.

Microsoft expects you to spend 3000 bucks on their products so a $80 game can work. thats why im getting a mac :O

You expect to play modern ultra-detailled games on an old computer, that's the problem. No recent games will run on that, from MS or not.

and where is the config file?

It's a hidden file, you'll have to enable the display of hidden files in your files&folders options in Windows. Then go to documents and setting\your name\application data\microsoft\fsx. It's there.

I don't care how the quality is, I just like to fly the things.

No I don't expect them to be ultra-detailed.  expect them to run at a reasonable pace.  Even if I did upgrade I would still have to spend 1000-3000$.

Sorry, still can't find it, but I guess it doesn't matter since you guys say my computer is junk (which i agree with, don't get me wrong)

I will disagree a little bit of some of the post above

I ran FSX-Aceleration using (My Old processor and system) using a Pentium 4 Double threading 3.06 having a 256 Ge-force 6200 and 1gb ram for almost two years ,I took a lot of shot ,I flown a lot in a medium low settings 1024x760 32 , having an acceptable frame rate 15-17 ..

I even made the citation 500/I and the Boeing 707 using the sdk sp2,no complaints at all..

Today,I have improve my machine more Ram 2gb and a new cpu core duo (Or dual core) :-/ of course I can set my setting medium high and 1024x2048 32 and having 20-25 fmps, since 4 month ago

This depend a lot what city you fly (New York is very heavy)

This will get better

Believe it or not when I bought FSX I had just an Old pentium3-800mhz and an Ge-force MX440 128 ram,and I could fly ,then I just bough the FX6200 ,and I fly using it and even participate in the monthly screenshot WITH IT and this Shot I swear where taken from that old P3

I agree, I hate how FSX needs high support to run it. I got so angry people just told me to buy fs9.

Of course I got this laptop in April last year and I didn't know much that FSX needed to run on high quality. ::)

I' m running a five year old Dell2400 - Pentium 4 2.20g - 1000 RAM - ATI Radeon 9250 - crt 18" monitor - and I keep it running cool with a $5.00 Duracraft fan I bought in Walmart ( I don't understand why people have a problem with Walmart, Where else can you buy milk, bread, eggs, socks, shotgunshells, underware, and the money I save pays the internet bill, sorry got off subject) so any way, Don't sweat it, Crazypotatos, just read the stickys at the begining of these forums, espcially the " Tips and Tweaks" section and work with it you'll get this:

Think FSX runs like Crap?

Check some shots I posted and tell me if FSX runs like crap?

With the right add-ons & CFG tweaking it can run very well on even a medium setup.

Take note I have a mediocre CPU, so nothing special since FSX is CPU hungry. Those shots all give 25 FPS with no sweat.

You DON"T need to spend the massive amounts you mentioned to get joy from FSX.

I understand your frustration but you are blowing it out of porportion.

Again, follow the advice of the people in the Hardware and software forums. It is all about how you tweek your system. 512Mb of Ram just won't cut it and without the GPU info we can't give you a definitive answer.
