blue seas on land

Postby harrydarton » Mon Feb 09, 2009 3:08 pm

Hello to you all
My problem suddenly appeared, in FSX ( + sp1).
Generating a flight from a coastal airport, eg Bournmouth, I get to the 'find route' and the map appears showing the green land and the blue sea, then the sea covers over the land, but all the airports and other data is still visble. This also happens if I start from an inland airport such as Leeds/Bradford. A blue sq surrounds the airport and then expands horizontally. If I carry on with the flighteg 'Fly Now' the flight loads OK but if I check the GPS screen or the Map page, its all blue.
I thought at first it was an error in my added scenery (Horizon VFR vols 1 + 3 and alsoORBX Gold and Green ) but disabling them in Settings/ Scenery makes no difference. This error has also killed my frame rates from around 50 down to 3 .Ive upgraded my Graphics card driver and also cleaned the registry, but no difference.
Has anybody had this problem, and found an answer. Please dont say re-install,as I
have all this scenery ,not to mention aircraft.
Regards HD

I think its an Horizon VFR issue. I installed Vol 1 this weekend and have the same problem on GPS. It seems that the GPS gets its data from the scenery and not from MSFSX. Thats my theory anyway, as I had no problem with it prior to the install of VFR. :-?

My frame rate was not affected though, maybe its increased but that will be due to no AG.

I know it doesnt help you but it will steer you in the right direction hopefully, if I find the solution I will post it asap.

Hi Carcher126
Thanks for you reply.
You could be right. Last night I un - installed Horizon Vol 1, as per the manual, but I also checked The Settings/Scenery Library and all 12 entries were still there, so, they were deleted and the Blue seas were gone. and my frame rates were improved, but not to the previous levels.
Tonight i'm going to re-autherise all the ORBX scenery and see what happens.
I still can't figure why it happened in the first place, as I was flying OK with both Vols 1+3 activated.

Hi Carcher126
Just got back from a couple of days away.
I thought, before I re-install ORBX I'll check it out. I had already un-unstalled all my VFR scenery, so guess what. All was ok, no blue seas, except where it should be. A disk clean on the partition I intended fitting VFR followed by a registry clean and then disabling my Firewall (Comodo) and then a re -install.  No problems, a seemingly perfect install in less than an hour.
BUT, THE B**** BLUE SEAS ARE STILL THERE.
The scenery seems to be ok but its not what I expected.
If I can't find an answer it looks like I'll be going back to JustFlight's version
Regards HD
PS Frame rates are OK though

Hi Carcher
I would agree its just a  VFR problem, Since yesterday have made a few tests and have found, if  I disable ( uncheck) the 2.4 photo scenery everythhing is ok, but its the default scenery. I'll try the Horizon forum.
