Planes showing on Free Flight page.

Postby Garret » Sun Jan 25, 2009 7:52 pm

When I go into my Free Flight page (the one where we choose which plane we want to fly), all the planes I have downloaded from Internet, do not show up. I have a blank screen where the plane should be. How can I repair this? Help please.

Any plane that I have downloaded from any website. The picture just doesn't show. I've downloaded many planes from Vintage to supersonic fighters, passenger jets, etc. do you have any idea why this would happen?

Thats because you are downloading aircraft that do not have the thumbnails required to show the preview picture in their texture folders. ;)

Most non-FSX aircraft will suffer from this. I am usually very strict as to what I download, and I only have FSX-native aircraft in my folder.  :)

It's easy to make a thumbnail picture and add it into the textures folder. So I have all the planes showing in the preview. It's the larger picture once I have chosen my plane, that doesn't show. The one that turns around when it is loaded. That is where I'm really bugged because it is blank.

It would help to know your system specs & which version of FSX you have - SP1, SP2/Acceleration etc. If you have DirectX 10 Preview or Light Bloom enabled you could try turning them off.

Any plane that I have downloaded from any website.

There are a lot of 3rd party aircraft to choose from & many are not compatible with all versions of FSX. An example of the aircraft you're having problems with would be a big help.

I ony download from 2 sites: Simviation and Surclaro. Some of the examples would be: F86 Sabre, Boeing 787, Stearman, Grumman AA5A, Bell47 Helicopter, C130 Hercules etc etc. As you can see, they are all types. Also I only download from FSX files, although many of the later FS2004 planes also work in FSX, I don't use them.

First of all, did you try my suggestions?

If that didn't fix it links to the pages these aircraft are posted on would be useful so someone can download them to check them out. One or two examples will suffice. A lot of aircraft posted in the FSX sections are not fully compatible with all versions of FSX so it's also important to know the version you're using. The more information you can give the more likely someone will be able to help you.

I only know of the one Bell 47, so I'm betting DirectX preview is the problem.
