That's the current line of thinking.  Surely you don't believe that's incapable of changing...

Screw Microsoft!  Why the heck can't some software company make a flight simulator!  Why does it have to be MicroButt?

There's enough talent in this hobby to make a sim 10x better than what MS barfed up in the last iteration (and don't get me wrong, I'm an FSX addict-just love it).  There's GOT to be some other alternative!

How are we EVER gonna get to fly on the Holodeck now???

Well, since you obviously confer with the higher ups at MS or have the ability to read their minds, I guess I'll defer to you one this one.  It must be nice to know everything that's going to happen...

I never said it was a certain thing.  I only said it was a possibility.  If you have to be right all the time, then that's your thing, but please don't put words in my mouth.  Has a corporation never changed it's mind about something before?  I happen to think it's a logical extension to continue what you have in order to buy time for things to turn around and regain your momentum.

So why don't you tell me this incontrovertible source you have inside MS that gives you such knowledge?  Because if you can't then you probably need to stop being argumentative about it.  I understand you are supposed to be this big MS Guru that knows all there is to know and you may not be used to people contradicting you, but even you cannot tell the future...

I doubt they're canning the MSFS franchise forever... like Nick says, it may be a setback for now that the economy is in big, big trouble. I do think that when the economy is back in order (a good, good time from now unfortunately) they will continue their work on FS11 and other things

I think you give the suits at MS far too much credit... consider the following (emphasis mine):

"The company says that while Xbox 360 platform and PC game revenue drove the increase, it was offset by a decrease in revenue from the company's Zune music player. And while Xbox 360 platform and PC game revenue specifically was up 6 percent to $135 million, price reductions still offset the bottom line."

Now riddle me this: how does it make sense to axe one of the profit makers and keep the looser!

On the bright side, we do have some awesome addons out now for FSX and more coming out this year.

FS Dreamscapes just finished Utah Phase 1, 85Gb of some of the best photoscenery around and it's getting polished up too.  GEXn Europe also.  And ManhattanX.

I dont think its going anywhere... but until we get some official word we wont know for sure

I just got off the phone ... what I got is they heard cuts were coming but had no idea it was coming down like this. I will try and get more tomorrow from office sources...

I think this round is all about the CFO sliding beads with no regard for anything else..

Read Steve Lacey's (remember him?) latest blog entry for all the confirmation needed. ACES was gutted...
