There is a little utility here-
http://www.simviation.com/fsxutilities1.htm- called Autothumbnail v2, that will create the thumbnail.jpg files.
Else: you can take a screenshot of the aircraft and crop/resize the image to make your own. Standard thumbnails are 256x128 pixels saved in .jpg format, and must be named thumbnail.jpg. Just drop the .jpg into the relevent ....\
\texture*\ folder for each paint.

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.
