Forgive me if I'm late to the party or posted in the wrong area but do you care to comment on the following:

Well you answered my question. I guess my issue here is that I have been struggling with how drawn out and dare I say 'convoluted' the optimising threads have become. I am presently trying to collect and condense your wisdom on the matter from the milles of posts available into a coherent picture that I master.
I was hoping maybe this article was just a simplified 'global' version of what you have been saying all along.

just kidding, Just to confirm that those settings etcc.. in the optimize xp will work for 64 bit xp as well.

Hello Nick - Re: "I don't know what else to add."
For fresh install of Windows XP on my home assembled Abit IP35 Pro, I continue to you use your old list -

Since my retail XP disk is SP1, I've modified that list, in light of your subsequent warnings about the web update to SP2, to use a slipstreamed SP2 disk from a recent download of that entire SP2 package. Other than that, have you changed anything else in the intervening two years for a fresh XP install?
