FSX VC lighting

Postby wsciutti » Sun Dec 28, 2008 3:06 pm

Hi all and a HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Does anyone know how to tweak the aircraft cfg file to reduce the intensity of the VC night lighting? Especially the Maul?

Thanks in advance.

yea..

But I dont have a link to the process right now... I think it had something to do with either moving the light back further in location or tweaking the VC light FX file itself.

I think Fr Bill when he may stop by may have that information

As for fixing the Maul lights aftyer SP2 where they do not respond correctly to the switches, read here

Sir Nick,

Thanks yet again! It occurs to this almost 70 yr old mind that if you took all the 'Thank You's from this community and received a penny, you would never run out of:

 Ron Bacardi's

Special FSX Label

All the best in the new year!

All,

As a test, I deleted the entire [light] section of the Maul cfg. file and wolla!

The interior flood light is gone!

Much easier to read.

You didnt say you wanted it 'off' you said you wanted it 'tweaked' for brightness

Off was easy

All you had to do was place the // in front of the vclight fx file line as shown in the link I posted. Deleting the entire lights section was not necessary

Of course, now you have NO lights whatever on the Maule...  :o

Well,

You are right!! However I just tested at night and when I hit the 'L' key, the fixed spot view does have nav lights. What doesn't work are the switches for which Nick gave me a solution.

This will NOT work for the C172!!

Fortunately, I have FSX installed on a slower PC (which I've used for two years) and is a backup.

Thanks all; Bill, if you can tell me how to reduce the intensity of the spot view??

To be quite frank, it has taken me over six years to (almost) fully understand the FS lighting system...

...which -being brutally honest- isn't so much a "system" as it is an ad-hoc collection of kludgework assembled into a semi-coherent order by our dear friends at ACES.

Your last question as asked is rather unclear. We were discussing the VC lighting and how to reduce the intensity, and now you're jumping to spot view?

Please reframe your question to remove any ambiguity so I'll have a proper target to which a concise answer might be attempted...  ;D

Fr. Bill,

Sorry about that. The post was to indicate that the spot view, with the [lights] deleted from my Maule aircraft.cfg file, still had nav lights which makes me think there is hard code in the .air file?

I would like to know how to reduce the interior lights intensity but that may be impossible if you have spent that much time on the light issue.

I was not a user of FS9 so am learning my way around FSX, tweaking some aircraft.cfg files where I know the plane does not fly as simulated based on real-world experience.

Thanks for checking this posting and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
