Vocal Warnings in MD500E

Postby Lighthorse » Mon Dec 22, 2008 1:49 pm

Someone might have posted this but I cant find it.
I downed MD500E and ND_MD500D The problem I am having is
the vocal warnings ( sink rate, to low Flaps and Terrain ).
How do I get rid of these warnings They are a pain when your landing.
I checked the aircraft.cfg, sound.cfg, panel.cfg and model.cfg files
but cant find it anywhere. :(
Is it in the MD500E.air file and if it is how do I edit the file?

Thanks

I was going to check this out before replying but the MD500E file I got was for FS2004 - not FSX.

Would you please provide the complete filename (???????.zip) so I can try again?

What you are looking for would not be in the .air file - that file contains data regarding flight dynamics primarily.

Whatever is creating those warnings almost has to be in the panel.cfg file somewhere.

Paste this section into the aircraft.cfg file (or modify the existing section if present):

[GPWS]
max_warning_height

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

Append: FSX has built in GPWS. Not sure what it's tied to (normally the Radio Altimeter). I have had to use the above section to 'disable' the call outs when not desired (helis), even when there is no Radio Altimeter.

The other option is to assign a keystroke to 'GPWS-(toggle)'.

Thanks dave3cu you have been very helpful.
