Postby Migalex » Sat Dec 20, 2008 8:38 pm

Well, I got a simple problem with addons, they get all white, theres no textures, and in interior, i can t see outside, even official addons like Spitfire for FS2004 which before i could fly it, i can t now. Maybe its the Service pack 1 and 2, i dont know, just they worked before and no they dont, Please anyone can help me? I dont like the normal planes from game.

I think that is your problem not all fs2004 aircraft will show up correctly in FSX esp. if the aircraft was converted from FS2002.
I doubt it if the service packs are the problem unless you have acceleration. I know at one point there was a problem with adon aircraft and acceleration but I think they relased a patch to solve that problem. But I am not sure. 8-)

Also, if you're running FSX in DX10 mode, ANY addon aircraft that was not compiled with the FSX SDK will show up with no textures, and will have major transparent issues.

SP2 did render a lot of non-FSX-native planes useless.

Try unchecking DX10, if it's checked.

Should remove some problems.

Hmm, taking Direct X 10 off correct the Exterior, they look fine outside but interior still can t see outside. And its not only 2004 spitfires, but i got a Tornado that was released in some days that was for X and has same prob, now with DX10 off it is good outside and can t see out from the cockpit,
Does the Acelerador corrects this? Cuz ill buy it than.
Thanks

Non transparent windows can sometimes be fixed with finding the texture file for the window, and inverting the alpha channel

Although that may be intuitively obvious to you, could you put that in laymen's terms for the rest of us? :)

A texture is a picture + an Alpha channel which defines what part of the picture is transparent and which is not. The Alpha is usually the same as the picture, but in black and white only. Normally, black means transparent and white means opaque, it was like that in FS9 and in FSX SP1.

Now in FSX SP2 this is the contrary. White means transparent and black means opaque.

So you simply have to use a tool nammed DXTBMP, edit the texture of the canopy glass and make so that it's Alpha channel gets inverted, like a negative. It takes approximatively 10 seconds once you're used to the procedure:

- open the texture
- export Alpha to editor
- make Alpha Darker in editor
- save in editor
- refresh Alpha in DXTBMP
- save in DXTBMP, choosing "extended bitmap", then "DXT3".

The problem is that between (FS9 and FSX SP1) and (FSX SP2), the "transparency" has been inverted.
