747-400 tilted upwards?

Hi all:

My 747-400 at 35,000ft and 0.86mach seems to always have its nose pointed upwards at about 5-degrees.  Is this normal for this airplane with a standard weight and full fuel? I do not remember feeling like I was tilted upwards when I'm in a real airplane!

There is a fix for it SOMEWHERE...looked for a few minutes but couldn't find it. Have you installed FSX service pack 1 and 2 yet? I think the SP's solve this problem

Yes this is normal for a plane to cruise with a nose up attitude. Planes are never perfectly level when they cruise.

and .86 in a 747? were you in a hurry or something? max cruise speed for the 747 is .85. and the MMO is .92 but you are burning excess fuel at that speed and lowering your range

Yes this is normal for a plane to cruise with a nose up attitude. Planes are never perfectly level when they cruise.

Like he said, this is normal all planes cruise like that, except maybe the SR-71. Then air up high vs thicker air down lower.

It's normal.

And if you're heavy you should probably start cruise at FL280 - FL300. Cruise speed is usually around .855 but can be higher or lower.

Barbr, I believe N1 is the engine output in percent.

N2 would be RPM...

But don't take my word for it, I'm a small-prop guy myself

Yeah I'm very sure that the most that you want to cruise at is Mach .85. If the sim was really detailed then you could do .855.

N1 and N2 are your low speed and high speed compressors in the engine. N1 is the first stage (Low speed) and then the N2 is the second stage (high speed). Since turbines work differently than piston driven engines the air needs to be compressed and then shot through and turns the fans at the back of the engine. these fans are connected to a shaft that turns the main fan in the front.
