[quote]I would say you need more RAM, but I am by no means an expert on that, I'm running a CPU a step or two above yours with 2GB of RAM and a 512Mb Graphics card and have no problems with max settings in FS9, but it would also depend on your GPU.

Edit: I'm also using XP pro, and I've heard that Vista can give FS9 fits, but NickN will know more about that one.

For finding the RAM in XP it's the same way only as soon as you select the System Icon, it will be listed in the General tab. There should be three pieces of information on that tab:

System: which OS you use

Registered to: who the OS is registered to

Computer: CPU and RAM specs

From what you listed here, it's about the same as what the original poster listed.

This is mine, and I can only manage a steady 15fps with sliders at halfway and almost no traffic and no weather for a somewhat stutter free smooth flight. And this is even after applying NickN's tweaks and optimizations (minus the nhancer because at the moment I'm using an ATI x1650pro 512Mb GC and it doesn't work with nhancer).
Also, this system is built from scratch with no retail included, resource hogging, background junk. The only software on this is the stuff I've installed.

For FS9 I can have all sliders maxed out, including traffic and weather and keep it locked at 30fps and never have a stutter. But for the multiplayer purpose, I keep it locked at 20 at all times. Hard to see the difference in my opinion anyways. Other opinions will vary on that one.
Yours might be ok for FS9 at high settings, but it would still need at least another gig of RAM for smooth performance in FS9.

The only way anyone is getting smooth performance in FSX at high settings is if they're following NickN's hardware recommendations. ;)

Geeze that stinks, for my FSX i have all of my sliders maxed but, most of them are customized and i usally get 15-20 fps just depending on the weather and air traffic and i keep it locked at 20fps, but what helps the most is my Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT OC Graphics card

Hey guys this is a dry old argument.  Everybody should have made their minds up a year ago.

Re-running the debate is a bit like voters at an election:  if their minds are made up, nothing will move them.

So let's save it all until we can debate FS11 v FSX v FS9 all over again.
