FSX VS FS9

Postby Mr. Pilot Man Mike » Sat Nov 29, 2008 12:00 pm

Ok so ive gotten really mad over the crashes and incompadabilities of fsx and i was wondering which one would be better for my system (I wouldn't be asking this, i would have automaticly seitched, but i like the fsx multiplayer system, including chatbok, because i dont have a microphone)

Windows Vista Premium SP1 32 Bit
AMD Athlon 64 4000+ 2.60 GHZ
1 GB ram
Can you guys please help me? :-?

EDIT: I also did not switch because i used mouse yoke, but i just got a joystick (ST290 PRO)

For your system, I would recommend FS9. I think you need more RAM. What's your graphics card?

FS9

thats system is not even close in the FSX range of hardware needs

FSX needs a Intel processor. A AMD 4000 clocked to 3GHz is SLOWER than a Intel core2 @ 1.8-2.2GHz

just so you get the jist  :)

I would say you need more RAM, but I am by no means an expert on that, I'm running a CPU a step or two above yours with 2GB of RAM and a 512Mb Graphics card and have no problems with max settings in FS9, but it would also depend on your GPU.

Edit: I'm also using XP pro, and I've heard that Vista can give FS9 fits, but NickN will know more about that one.  ;)

Hard to tell, every system is different and what other programs you're running in the background will have a big impact, also how your system is set up and optimized will come into play. For the multiplayer, it's recommended that you lock it at 20fps regardless of what your system can achieve, so I just leave mine locked at 20 wether I'm online or not.
What is your graphics card?

Being that I don't use Vista, I don't know if the process for that is the same, but for me, it's go to the control panel, select system, then choose the Hardware tab. then click on the Display adapters and it lists the name of my card there.

Being that you don't know what it is though, I'm going to assume that this is an unmodified store bought system? If that's the case, then you will most definately need a graphics card and RAM update. Those retail systems like to cram a lot of resource hogging junk into them without providing the hardware needed to properly compensate. :-/

1GB of system memory on that video card is even going to be FS9 limited

but you will run FS9 much better than FSX

as for how much, I cant even guess
