I can't install the driver for some reason, with modded .inf and everything.

Well Nick, I upgraded from the Nivdia 163.71 driver to the 180.48 on your OK. I'm running the 8800GTS.

I pulled this driver off of Guru3d.com a couple of weeks ago and it definitely has made a big difference!

So this won't be compatible, or no gain with the 8500GT?

I'm running it on the 175.19, not too bad for my older system....any suggestions for the best driver for this card?

My spec,

windows vista 32bit
8800GTX 768mb card
Q6600 core 2 quad CPU

When I saw this on the nvidia site I didnt bother as it said that the improvements are only for the new gtx260 range and using sli

Can you confirm you not using sli , and do you reckon its going to be an improvement to my 178 driver

I'm not using an SLI setup and after installing the new drivers I have seen a definite improvement. specs:

Core 2 e6600
8800 gts 640 mb
XP home SP3

yes yes yes.....this driver, for me, is definitely the best so far, with my now humble system...better frames and less stuttering when i limit my frame rate especially in the country....maybe its my illusion, but the graphics are really sharp and color even seems to have improved....now i'm not so frustrated, and can peacefully wait till i can afford the bigger and better when i figure i deserve it

I have a few FSX planes that fly just fine in FS9. Would this new driver make any difference for me?
My system: AMD Phenom 9500 cpu, 2 x eVGA e-GeForce 8800GTS Superclocked vidcards (640Mb DDR3 each), Zalman "sunflower" 9700 fan, Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4 mobo, 4Gb G.Skill PC2-6400 DDR2 800Mhz RAM, 2 x Sony 20X DVD writers, Thermaltake Toughpower 8

Homebrewer, they aren't FSX planes then, they are FS9 planes...planes made with the FSX SDK probably won't load in FS9. ;)

So no, no problems then.
