aliasing a vc?

Postby jieitai » Sat Nov 15, 2008 11:41 pm

Is it possible? I've got a couple planes that don't have a VC, and I can't fly worth a darn with the 2D cockpit: the views are so limited that using terrain and landmarks for navigation is completely out of the question and landing is a royal pain in the butt. I thought it might be possible, since one plane's panel is aliased to the CRJ700, to copy the CRJ700 Interior model file, rename it to match the 727-200, then editing the model.cfg file. And, of course, it didn't work.

It is impossible. The virtual cockpit is part of the model. The VC is not seperate from the exterior model. There are a bunch of great planes out there with VC's in just about every model. If you like airliners with SIMPLE (payware) virtual cockpits I highly suggest Overland Simmer's Sky world (Boeing+Airbus) pack. Straight-forward vc's, framerate friendly models, high quality paints ;)

Wii, that is incorrect.

If the model is FSX native, then it has a separate VC model. ;) You CAN alias a VC to another airplane, by copying that interior model into the other planes model folder - but only if the plane you are copying it into is FSX Native. :)

i too thought it would now be possible in FSX, since some planes have separate interior and exterior model files...

but i have no idea how that works, and it probably isn't for that kind of purpose

Well, the two aircraft I have (North West 727-200, and Kawasaki C-1) aren't native models, so I guess I'm screwed.
