I had thread a while back about my problem.. the "glass" auges are what cause my crashes.. I'd get weird artifacting, and then BOOM.. lock up..

A bios flash finally fixed it..

(I'm searching for that thread now)

Found it... it's 5 pages long, for all I know, you posted in it..lol  :D

Anyway.. eventually it gets around to a solution.. turns out to be a problem similar to yours (gauge specific)..

Well, I updated my video drivers...again. Uninstalled everything and deleted all the config files...again. Reinstalled everything in the correct order...again. And guess what? It still doesn't work! It wouldn't be so frustrating if it weren't for the fact that one of the panlels that don't work is in the Accel pack FA-18. It use to work. It worked quite well for some time. Then I had to reinstall XP and I believe it was right after that when I noticed it not working. I have went back and tried reinstalling the old video drivers that came with the machine. This has fixed other issues in the past but it didn't help. It's only the Accel pack FA-18 and any F-16 that I have ever tried that won't work. All my other modern fighters that have "glass" displays work fine. At first I thought it was because the FA-18 and F-16 use .dll or .gau type gauges and the ones that work all use .xml type gauges. But then I looked at a few others that use .gau files and they work fine. I have a P-51 that has a very nice VC in it that I have modified with a few more original looking gauges and it works fine. Last night I took a few glass displays from an add-on FA-18 I have and put them in the Accel pack FA-18. Once I had the position and size right they worked fine. These were .xml type gauges. So I am in the process of reworking these panels to make them somewhat usable. But it is still very frustrating. I just hope that I have been a good enough boy this year that Santa will bring me a new V-card (ATI Please!). I really believe that would solve my problem.

Just a simple guess: You said you have reinstalled WinXP. Have you also reinstalled the DX9 updates ? (June 2007 and June 2008)
Have you also reinstalled the .net framework 2 or 3 ? I believe some addons require it.... it's free so it's worth a try :)

Sorry for my English, I'm French ... ;-)

I had the same problem after reinstall FSX and Acceleration Pack. I think the problem comes from SimConnect.

I solved this:
- Completely uninstalling FSX (manually delete all the files not deleted by the uninstaller program)
- Clean the registry of all entries "FSX"
- Delete all files and references to SimConnect (files and in the registry) : See in the ..\Windows\System directory
- Reinstall FSX and Acceleration Pack
- And it works again :)

Yes.. i'm kind of frustrated with FSX too. I bought MyTrafficX in Sweden, and it gave me a weird bug (that its too late to fix now), but let's say - I had to click like 3000 errors to get playing. (And as you may have guess.. I will NOT do that.
