Installing FSX Acceleration with add-ons on game?

Postby DazzleStar » Wed Nov 05, 2008 11:41 am

Hi! I was just wandering if you can install FSX Acceleration when you have add-ons in your original FSX game (with SP2). I haven't installed any yet but I have a few downloaded, and I want to get Acceleration for X-mas. Thinking ahead, I thought I should ask here before installing any add-ons. So, any advice guys? ;D
My specs:
Dell Dimension 2400
2.66GHz Pentium 4
NVIDIA GeForce 6200 256mb
1gb DDR memory
80gb Seagate hard drive

Install away! As far as I am aware, acceleration adds on but doesn't replace. If you are scared that they may be deleted in the process, back them up! make 3 seperate backup folders: One labled "Aircraft" (stick the aircraft in there ;)) one "Effects" Stick all the effects in there if there are any. One for "Gauges" stick all the gauges in there (ONLY if they need to be put in FSX\Gauges folder though!!) and (if needed) a back folder for "Sounds" Some planes come with sounds that need to be placed in the FSX\Sounds folder. Make other backup folders if need! BACK UP EVERYTHING ;) I have 25+GBs of backups for FSX alone ::)

I'll be more specific, 172 flyable/traffic planes ;) Thus meaning 172 folders in my Airplanes folder ;) ;)

I think it replaces aircraft.cfg files, so you need to re-enter the stuff you've entered there, if you got any repaints.

Do NOT back them up to replace the new ones though, as you won't get the changes Acceleration makes.
