Or using the VASI (visual aid slop indicators), the four lights on each side of the runway. Two red lights two white lights. If you see that you are on the glide slop. Three or more red too low, three or more white you are two high.

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

I would suggest starting out in a small single engine prop, and getting the basics down, to include landings. Also, go through the flight training series in the flightschool board.

Mastering the basics in a small aircraft before flying anything bigger will help you ;)

A rule of thumb for descent is 3 miles out for every 1000 ft of descent, for example, 100 miles out, at 30,000 feet, start descending.

I always like to be at 160-180kts & 3,000 ft at around 15 miles out then hook up with the ILS, works for me... but everyone has their own way of doing things....

(This would apply to any short haul jet, A320, B737 etc.. others are different)

Not that I've had a bash at FS for a while...
