I can see where that would be a problem.  I hate it when that happens.  But my GF has this little trick where she..

(thud, smack, pop!)

I think therin lies your problem.  512 mb of ram is the Minimum reguired RAM.  You might try lowereing almost all your settings and see if that helps with the game crashing.

RAM is not that terribly expensive (Okay, that's a relative statement).

Yes the RAM there might be set on the box as a min. requirement but then again all the sliders must be to the left.

The graphics card in my opinion is way to weak to handle FSX and the CPU (Since FSX is CPU hungry) is well below.

Sadly FSX is power hungry.

Might want to stay with FS9, having FS9 well optimized still looks great, if not even better in some instances then FSX.

Goodluck  ;)

Yeah, I agree, the (low) RAM is probably the problem.

Not "enough money" for more RAM?
Are you aware that 2 gigs of DDR2 RAM can be had for as little as $30-$50 US?

Even another 512 megs will help your situation.

More RAM will not only help FSX run better, it will also make Win run better, etc.

Go the dishes, do the laundry, bring your mum a cup of tea or coffee..  Do other chores around the abode without being asked.  Parents hate that, and will do anyhing to make you stop.  Possibly spring for a nice 1G+ memory stick for the computer.   ;)
