Does Overclocking cause pause problems

Postby pickup » Thu Oct 16, 2008 11:38 pm

I have just got a new computer to run FSX.

I have overclocked it to 3.6GHz, but after talking to some knowlegeable computer people they told me that by overclocking you cause pause problems down the road. Is there any truth to that. I don't think 3.6GHz is too much. I was told on another topic I had here that I could run as high as 4.05 GHz on air.I would appreciate any help you could give me on this.

Here is what I am running.

Windows XP Professional Edition SP3 32bit

3.0GHz Intel Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650 Quad Core Processor

CPUCooling System COOLERMASTER brand

Evga 750i SLI Mainboard, 1600MHz FSB -
4GB (2 x 2GB) Corsair Dominator XMS DDR2 1066MHz  part #:
TWIN2X4096-8500C5DF

1GB EVGA GeForce GTX 280 GDDR3 Graphics Card -

1000 Watt  Approved SLI Power Supply - antec tpq-1000 -

20X DVD+/-RW Optical Drive w/ Lightscribe

500GB, 7200 RPM , 32MB Cache, Performance Hard Drive -

High Definition 7.1 Integrated Audio

Thankyou

If you overclock the right way then you will get the same "useful" life as you would without any overclocking at all.
