Problem is the VC.

I can post the panel.cfg that I have if ya want. I dont believe I ever made any changes to it.
My specs... A hard drive, motherboard, graphics card, some memory, a keyboard, mouse, and monitor - in other words, nothing special.

Problem is the VC.  As soon as I figure out witch texture that dang square is I'll have this fixed, unless this thing is some how a part of the model. It's location and shape is  why I thought it was the 2D panel somehow showing when in exterior view.

The VC is part of the visual model. It's defined in the MDL file, not the 2D panel. The F-117 from RichardH's link has no VC. It also has different textures.

same plane, different texture. His has a VC also, you just can't see it until you swing the camera all the way around. I had to use easydok camera to get this shot.

The model from Richard's link has no VC. I'm quite certain of that.

His plane:
FSX F117 Nighthawk. This is a modified version of Craig Richardson's F117 Nighthawk for Flight Simulator X In a Low luster Stealth Paint scheme. This is a complete Aircraft and new panel modified by Mark Rooks

My plane:
http://www.simviation.com/simviation/st ... =64&page=9
FSX F117 Nighthawk 'Have Blue Camo'. ..This is a modified version of Craig Richardson's F117 Nighthawk for Flight Simulator X Painted in the first Have Blue Camo Paint Scheme . This is a complete Aircraft and new panel modified by Mark Rooks RDG Aircraft

Same guy, same plane. But just to make sure I am double checking, I hate to assume on this one. ;) I thought VC couldn't be added. :-/

Sorry. I just checked the Aircraft.cfg & the viewpoint has been edited to effectively remove the VC.

I thought VC couldn't be added.

Not in an FS9 model but it can be removed. If the VC is causing the problem that might be the solution.

Really? How is that done, because that would solve problems with a couple of aircraft I have. :-?

I did that with an F-14 for FS9. I just copied the entire panel folder from the FSX version, and replaced the FS9 panel folder with it. Granted, I believe the 2 models were made by the same person. But it worked beautifully!

I can't remember how it's done but it's not difficult. Can't find it after a quick search on Google. The answer is probably still posted somewhere in the FS2004 forum. It involves hex-editing the MDL file. I can't guarantee it will work for all FS9 models. Even then I'm not sure the original authors would appreciate you messing around with their work without permission.

I wouldn't know what to do with a MDL file anyway, I was hoping for a cfg edit of some kind. And in all due fairness, Isn't this very post messing with someones work? ;) I just like to tweak on my collection, it's how I learn. I have great respect for original authors and have contacted several to obtain alteration and upload privliges. If someone has a question and I feel at least 90% certain that I might be able to help, I chime in, if not I sit back and learn from those that do. :)

Simple yet very effective fix, I like it. I wasn't looking to modify models or anything, my skills are nowhere near that level :D
But this is right up my alley!;)

Well, the Hex editor was a bit out of my league  :-[, BUT, I have found a solution! :)
Look at this:

This is the Mike Stone F-117 found here: http://www.simviation.com/fs2004military121.htm

As stated I'm using FSX/Accel on an XP/sp3 system and this works just fine, in fact I just copied and pasted directly from the FS9 aircraft folder to the FSX airplane folder and went right to flying it.
Give it a try and let me know. My video 'Nighthawk Dawn' in the Videos forum features this exact model. ;)
