How to uninstall PikNik?

Postby Meck » Fri Oct 10, 2008 6:27 am

Hey,

I tried to pimp my Sim the last few weeks - have now installed Nick's Sunfix, some new taxiway textures, new trees etc.

Yesterday I tried PikNik (dwnldd here @ simV) but wasn't satisfied with its output (nice grass textures in the near, but bad as soon as more than 2-3m from point of view; no matter what setting), so I used the deinstaller that came with the pack - it said it would un-do everything but when I launched FSX again the textures remained the PikNik ones...
Has anyone experiances with this issue?
I have backed up the whole texture folder but since this isn't the only change I made I don't want to replace the actual one with my saved folder.
Maybe someone can point me to the right file that I should replace in order to get my default grass back?!

Thx Meck

If you backed up the texture folder, Just find the name of the Picnik file and replace it with the default one from your backup folder. ;)

The problem is, I don't know which files were affected by PikNik - maybe it added some files but surely it changed most of them!  :-/

I just ran the installer for picnik and it says that in the FSX main dir, there is a zip which contains ALL the original textures that it overwrits, I looked in mine and it is there, so just unzip that and that should fix it.
It's called: PicNic_Original_Tex.zip

Was it called detail1.bmp ? If so that's it. you should now have default grass back. In my opinion the two looked very similar until you got up close as you mentioned.

You could also try uninstalling PicNic with add/remove programs. Make sure to keep a copy of that detail1.bmp safe in case it takes it out thinking that it was the picnic one.

Well actually I have uninstalled PikNik atm, and I don't think the Windows Remove will do better...

And I indeed noticed a change (that looked good) but I couldn't make it's range wider than 1-2m from the viewpoint, no matter what setting I choose in FSX.

Yes the file you named is the one I copied to my folder but nothing changed...  :-[
