FSX/FS9 installed together.

FSX/FS9 installed together.

FSX is running great on my setup at the moment.

I have tried running FS9 and CFS3 just recently and they both go buggie.

The question is:

Is there something in the way FSX installs that conflicts with these other programs?

I could run FS9/CFS3 without any problem, now as I said, they have problems and CFS just crashes(no great loss in the war of computer attrition).

Does anyone else have a conflict issue FSX/FS9?

Cheers,

Col.

There's no issue that I know about.

The only thing that could be, if all the games are installed on the same hard drive, is that the HUGE number of files for all those games would really slow the system down. Best would be to separate those games at least on different partitions, in order to keep their files defragged in a quicker and easier way.

That's a valid point. I have 2x240Gb HDD and was thinking of installing FS9 on the other drive to separate it.

I was hoping someone had done this already,if not I may have to have a play.

A lot of users are running both FSX and FS9 on the same system (not at the same time of course  ;D ) without any issue, so yes, I think it would be a very good idea to reinstall your FS9 on another drive.

And to be more precise, since FSX needs to load much more files during flight, it would be better to put FSX alone on a separate (and fast) drive, and FS9 and CFS on the other drive. After moving all those files, it would also be a good idea to run a disk error check, just to ensure everything is fine.

Thanks,Daube. That was the way I was thinking. But you know you need a bit of confirmation now and then.

FSX stays on the initial drive and FS9 goes on the slave and CFS goes in the R drive :). Naah, might try CFS again.

I have both - i first tried FSX on a slave drive, and it worked ok. But i quickly ran out of space so i re-installed on my main HD alongside FS9, works just as well, and my main HD is pretty full...
