Postby Steve M » Fri Sep 19, 2008 5:00 pm

Windows keeps prompting me to update to sp3. my fsx is behaving so well now i dont want to do anything to screw up its perfomance. i have around 6 add on planes. will sp3 mess anything up? or should i just ignore it? i did a couple of searches and didnt find an answer so i,m sorry if it's right in front of my face and i didn't see it.

It is my understanding from here and searching other sites that SP3 for XP is almost completely "networking" stuff, mostly aimed at large organizations.

You basically have two choices, install it to keep Windows Update at bay, or disable Windows Update to shut it up.  I chose the latter, but it's up to you.  As far as affecting FSX performance, there should be zero impact.

You can read about SP3 here:

If you do decide to get SP3 then do it manually. Download it first then update dont do it through the auto update. I have installed it on 5 machines with no problems.

Same with me: no effect on FSX incl. many addons by updating.
